I love Santa and he loves me!
Dear Family and Friends,
It's been a happy hectic year for the Pastrana / Hackney family! We had many 'firsts' this year – a very important one being sending out some holiday greetings in a (barely) timely manner. Happy New Year! We will work hard next year to get our holiday message out at the beginning rather than the end of the holiday, promise!
Olivia is mainly the one who's had lots of firsts this year – swimming classes, dance classes, preschool… the list goes on. She had chocolate for the first time on Mother's Day… needless to say it was a big hit. She was a ladybug for first official Halloween, though we think she was mostly attracted to the dress since she refused to wear the wings.
Andillon made it through another year at UCSD and loves being near the beach. We should go more often. Bob has been teaching at two different colleges and now that Olivia is in preschool, he's getting back to his work – he has a long term 'top-secret' (for now) project that will keep him busy for the better part of this year. He's also been learning how to do websites - he hopes this one doesn't break your computer ! :) Olivia loves to decorate – with stickers, paint, cut paper, everything. She is also deeply committed to her dress-up stage - she's in and out and in different clothes faster than anything you've ever seen. If changing clothes were an Olympic sport, we would have some gold medals in the house. We've been told that once Olivia hits preschool that we should expect to get sick a lot - this was not an exaggeration. For a while it looked like we were members of the Cold of the Month Club. We are fortunate in that we are all well and have been for the last few weeks. We'll take it! Daisy the dog was a charitable host to a foster puppy who we are happy to say has a great new home. Daisy thinks we made an excellent decision. She now resides as sole queen of her doggie domain again.
